1. James (Fallout 3)
Por mais que difamem o pai do Viajante Solitário, é preciso admitir que ele teve boas intenções. Ainda que ele tenha abandonado seu filho no ambiente opressivo que era Vault 101, foi por uma boa causa: trazer água limpa para toda Westland. É claro que ele colocou seu pimpolho em sérios problemas após fugir do confinamento, mas qual pai já não falhou tentando fazer a coisa certa?
2. John Marston (Red Dead Redemption)
O relacionamento entre John e seu filho Jack é um dos mais bonitos e emocionantes representados na História dos video games. As ações e sacrifícios que John realizou para salvar sua família mostram a qualidade de sua paternidade. Ele tenta educar seu filho da forma correta, o que infelizmente não acaba como o planejado: Jack acaba crescendo e tornando-se como seu pai.
3. Drácula (Castlevania)
O que é um pai? Um adorável montinho de inspiração. Seja na linha do tempo original ou no reboot de Lords of Shadow, o Drácula foi um pai marcante para aquele era sangue de seu sangue, Alucard.
Tudo bem que o amor de Alucard era tão grande que ele adotou o nome de seu progenitor ao contrário, porque queria ser o oposto dele, e também tem aquele detalhezinho de um tentar matar o outro... Mas é o tipo de coisa que acontece nas melhores famílias.
4. Lee Everett (The Walking Dead)
Mesmo não sendo pai biológico — e nem legalmente adotivo — de Clementine, Lee acaba assumindo o papel de protetor e provedor da garotinha. Seu relacionamento com ela torna-se tão bom ou até melhor que o de muitos pais por aí com seus filhos de sangue, com o passar dos episódios. Ele deixou um legado com ela, ela sente muita falta dele.
5. Subject Delta (Bioshock 2)
Big daddies são seres enormes e perigosos com instintos paternais aguçados quando se trata das little sisters. Porém, na história de Rapture, um big daddy em especial se destacou dando mais duro que nenhum outro para proteger sua pequena: Subject Delta. Ele foi o primeiro entre os grandalhões a ser ligado a uma little sister e volta após 10 anos de “morte” para ajudar sua “filha” Eleanor a fugir de sua mãe biológica psicopata, Sofia Lamb.
6. Dr. Light (Megaman)
Se conferir ao seu filhote um braço de canhão e inúmeros poderes explosivos não é cuidado paternal, o que é então? Dr. Light ainda deu ao Mega um cachorro e uma irmã feitos sob medida, para que todos pudessem ser uma grande família feliz — mesmo que ele envie suas criações em missões mortalmente perigosas contra seu arqui-inimigo, Dr. Willy.
7. Bowser (Mario Bros.)
Pai Bowser tem muitos filhos, muitos filhos ele tem... São sete, na verdade: Iggy, Larry, Lemmy, Ludwig, Morton, Roy e Wendy. Desde 1988 essa turma vem tentando tentando ajudar o paizão em sua principal projeto de vida: impedir que dois encanadores italianos salvem a princesa raptada.
Ainda que o Miyamoto tenha dito em 2012 que os Koopalings não são filhos do Bowser no atual cânon (?) da série, muitos fãs não aceitaram bem a mudança de algo supostamente tão bem estabelecido há anos e simplesmente ignoram, tratando os sete como cria do lagartão.
8. Heihachi e Kazuya Mishima (Tekken)
Heihachi vitimou seu filho Kazuya com um tratamento duro a vida inteira, uma vez até o jogando de um penhasco para ver se o garoto virava mais “homenzinho”. Quando o filhote se mostrou um assassino insano, foi jogado dentro de um vulcão pelo pai.
Jin, terceira geração da família, também sofreu nas mãos de seu progenitor. Kazuya pode não ter jogado Jin de lugar nenhum, mas acaba sendo responsável por ele se transformar em um demônio voador à la Angelina Jolie em “Malévola”.
9. Harry Mason (Silent Hill)
Harry mostra ser um pai e tanto, enfrentando criaturas que fariam vários outros homens pensarem suas vezes sobre o quão amam seus filhos adotivos.
10. Zachary Comstock e Booker DeWitt (Bioshock Infinite)
Um deles protege sua filha com um exército e um pássaro mecânico gigante, o outro viaja através de dimensões só para matar esse exército, enfrentar esse pássaro gigante e resgatar essa filha.
Esperamos que você já tenha terminado Bioshock Infinite antes de ler isso e que já saiba como Comstock está relacionado a Booker DeWitt, porque estamos falando de uma mesma pessoa aqui. Toda a história do jogo gira em torno do relacionamento complexo e do paradoxo quântico que envolve os três personagens. Podemos dizer a paternidade é um dos temas principais desse game.
11. Zeus (God of War)
Amor de pai é algo que atinge o coração... Empalando seu peito... Com uma espada mitológica enorme. Na relação entre Zeus e Kratos, não se sabe quem é o mais inconveniente: o pai ausente e sádico que tenta matar seu filho ou o filho sociopata que literalmente destrói terra, Olimpo e Reino de Hades em busca de vingança. Um clássico caso de “o fruto não cai longe da árvore”.
12. Adam Fenix (Gears of War 3)
Dado como morto por sete anos, o Dr. Adam Fenix foi encontrado por seu filho Marcus, com quem colaborou até o momento de sua morte real. Sem ele, o planeta Sera teria sucumbido à destruição da imulsão e sem ele nunca teríamos visto uma das facetas mais sensíveis do protagonista brucutu da franquia. A relação de pai e filho entre os dois personagens provoca alguns dos momentos mais emocionantes de Gears of War 3.
13. Haggar (Final Fight)
Se você já viu “Comando Para Matar” e “Busca Implacável”, sabe que alguns pais estão dispostos a fazer qualquer coisa por suas filhas. No caso de Mike Haggar, “qualquer coisa” significa sair de sua posição de prefeito e atravessar a cidade que está sob seu governo dando porrada em qualquer criminoso no criminoso, sem conversa fiada.
Moral da história: nunca sequestre a filha de um cara que tem ombros do tamanho de bolas de basquete.
14. Haytham Kenway (Assassin’s Creed 3)
Heytham tinha planos totalitários e malignos, colocou o sanguinário Charles Lee como segundo comando da Ordem dos Templários — o que indiretamente resultou na morte de Ziio — e até tentou matar Connor algumas vezes. Porém, à beira da morte, disse que tinha orgulho do filho.
É um personagem marcante e que contrapõe de forma interessante o perfil de seu filho indígena: enquanto Connor era imprudente, ingênuo e um lutador da liberdade, Heytham era maquiavélico, sarcástico, inteligente e muito perigoso.
15. Joel (The Last of Us)
Após The Last of Us, é impossível fazer uma lista decente sobre pais nos video games e não lembrar de Joel. Durante o estouro da epidemia, Joel perdeu sua filha Sarah de forma trágica, sendo alvejada por um soldado. Ele nunca se recuperou, tornando-se um homem amargo, duro e fechado. Joel, porém, teve uma segunda chance quando conheceu Ellie.
A garota que deveria ser apenas uma “mercadoria” entregue pelo contrabandista, pouco a pouco desenvolve laços consistentes com ele, ajudando a curar a ferida causada pela morte de Sarah e ocupando um lugar de filha em sua vida. O resultado disso todos que terminaram o jogo se lembram: a restauração e cura da humanidade foi sacrificada para que Joel e Sarah permanecessem unidos em família.
